Hearing aids play an important role in managing hearing loss and improving quality of life. Not everyone who needs hearing aids can afford them or is eligible to access the Australian Government Hearing Services Program.
Our Community Assistance Scheme (CAS), which is the only scheme in Victoria, enables some people with hearing loss who are on low incomes, who can't afford a hearing aid, and who are not eligible for government assistance, to be fitted with a reconditioned hearing aid from the Hearing Aid Bank only for the cost of the ear mould making. Usually only one aid is provided due to a shortage of aids and high demand for the scheme but as necessary a binaural fitting may be considered.
Whether or not you can obtain a hearing aid through this scheme depends on:
→ Your eligibility in terms of income and other circumstances
→ A suitable hearing aid being available in the Hearing Aid Bank
→ Ineligibility of government assistance
People who apply and are eligible for the Community Assistance Scheme will need a minimum of 2 appointments at our centre in Prahran for hearing assessment, the ear mould process and the hearing aid fitting with appropriately qualified staff. Only behind the ear (BTE) hearing aids are available from this program.
Contact a Hearing Advisor to discuss your needs.
Please donate hearing aids that are no longer needed
We always welcome donations of behind the ear hearing aids. These are cleaned and reconditioned, then are fitted to eligible clients. If you have any hearing aids that are no longer in use, we would appreciate your donations to help others obtain a hearing aid/s.
Please post hearing aids (and batteries, cases etc) to:
